“HORA specializes in fossil fuel power plant technology—both ‘super’ and ‘ultra’ critical power plants, as well as geothermal and solar–thermal utilizing molten salt,” affirms Kathryn Wood-Enriquez, CEO and Managing Director of Powerflo. In all these applications, cavitation, flashing, and noise are almost inevitable, so the chances of valve failure due to erosion, vibration, and thermal stress are higher than normal. To this end, HORA develops control valves with suitable materials to ensure the multi staged-control valve trims manage and control the velocity. Kathryn Wood-Enriquez says, “HORA’s custom-engineered ‘cartridge’ trims incorporating both axial and radial control technology allow ease of replacement with minimal downtime.” It’s the “Hot-Swap” Valve Trim concept.

Besides, Powerflo celebrates its collaboration with clients. The company developed a new valve and delivered the same to one of its clients with whose assistance the product was developed. Interestingly, the valve was offered for an unpaid trial for more than 12 months. Along with the unpaid trial, it provided a long-term warranty of up to four years. This approach of ‘try first, pay later’ highlights the confidence Powerflo has in the quality and performance of the products that it promotes and services.
On the heels of its 110 years in the business, Powerflo is expected to release a range of new valve products, some of which will be for hydrogen power plants and other ‘high-security’ applications. To better the customer experience, the company is aspiring to expand its team across the engineering, sales, and services departments and introduce online, interactive Valve Training courses soon in the region. With offices in Australia-Pacific, the Philippines, and Indonesia, the company is looking forward to expanding its footprint in other parts of Asia. It has already taken strategic steps to strengthen its manufacturing and assembly capabilities to cope up with the unstable supply chain due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
